Croisée Urbaine, University Campus & Neighborhood

location: Terrebonne, Canada

client: Ville de Terrebonne, Medifice, Fonds Immobilier de la FTQ

Winning Scheme, urban competition, in collaboration with A2 Design and Körnelius Group.

The Challenge

The City of Terrebonne and its partners Medifice and the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ asked LAAB to envision an ambitious campus meeting higher education needs in Lanaudière while materializing a promising project for the region: an institutional center for higher education within a new university district of the Croisée Urbaine.

The Response

The future district of 86,000 m2 dividing into 10 buildings, 1 entrance pavilion, large green spaces and pedestrian corridors aims to create an authentic living environment through the activation of a mixed-use urban ecosystem, including student residences and affordable housing, a Residential and Commercial Pole, and civic amenities. Promoting a sustainable way of living, its combined green network and natural corridors will constitute the largest continuous urban pedestrian realm in Quebec, in addition to its 2,4 hectares of planted roofs and slabs which will make it the largest green roof in the province.
