E-Valley Complex at 4000 St-Patrick, Montreal
location: 4000 St-Patrick, Montreal, Canada
client: Effenco & Group Mach
Finalist proposal, C40 international competition, in collaboration with Régis Côté & Associés

The Challenge

Sponsored by the Ville de Montréal and C40 Cities, the international Reinventing Cities competition aims to redevelop the 4000 St-Patrick site, on the edge of historic Lachine Canal, with the objective of carbon neutrality coupled with architectural and urban innovation.

The Response

Our project, entitled "The E-Valley" (the Electric Valley), brought together a hub of companies in the emerging transportation electrification industry and drew on the Lachine Canal's unique industrial history to inspire a project that would embody a new model for integrated urban manufacturing.
At 600 000 sq.ft., this carbon-neutral complex would have been the largest timber hybrid office/industrial structure in Canada. By its very nature, it would have contributed to reducing millions of tons of CO2 throughout the world, helping in our collective efforts for green gas emissions reduction for 2030 and carboneutrality for 2050.
